Lady Cougars faced theyre toughest foe from last year. The Avery Lady Vikings came in looking to knock off the number one team . Cougars shot poor only 3-21 from the floor from 3. 19 turnovers as Cougars pressed the ball taking bad shots. Destiny Elkins had 15 rebounds to lead the team Cougars had 40 rebounds with plenty of 2nd chance points .
But the Lady's where cold. Avery took the lead in the 2nd 29-26 and never gave it back. Nyssa freeman had 2 3's to pull the cougars close in the fourth Freeman had 16pts 2 rebounds 5 steals. Cougars had 13steals as a team . But Leader and and starter Brianna Woody hit 3 shots in a row in the 4th getting 15 Pt's 5 rebounds 1 block. On her final shot she came down awkward on her leg falling to the court in pain, Brianna's early indications is a tore acl. The loss of Brianna and only a 50% healthy Samm Chandler was to much to bare . As the Cougars lose they're first game of the year. 50-54.
