POLK AT HERITAGE 26-14 LOSS

Cougars entered Fridays game in an unfamiliar spot. A 2-2 record being a huge underdog to the 1st place in the conference Polk county wolverines. Cougars  came out strong behind QB Sam Howell and Rb Austin Rice. Cougars pounded they re way down inside the 10 when Howell connected with Eli Buckner in the Corner of the end zone. Eli's and Howells first passing td of the season. Austin Rice punched in the 2 point conversion putting the cougars up 8-0 on the wolverines. On Polk's first drive the cougars held the wolverines 3 and out .But a block in the back call on Mtn Heritage's defense prolonged the drive (check video tomorrow), inside Polk's 20 yard line. Polk counties QB Alec Philpott wasted little time answering Mountain Heritage connecting with Cary Littlejohn 74 pass TD. Little Jon had 2 catches for 83 yards Philpott walked in the end zone for the 2 point conversion to tie the game 8 all. It was a defensive ball game the rest of the half. The Heritage D stepped up big for the cougars holding the wolverines out the endzone at the end of the half keeping the game 8 all in the half. The second half was a different ball game, as Polk opened up the playbook as Polk's  Joel Booker went outside and scored on a 59 run off down the Polk county sidelines to outrun everyone one the Cougars Defense. Polk goes up 14-8. Heritage had big Penalties in the 2nd half that killed cougar drives . Cougars had 98 yards in  penalties  with 2 personals (both blocking in the back on defense)? Polk counties Cary Little Jon was a beast all night until going out with a turned ankle. Little John rushed for 107 yards  on 15 carries. Scored the following drive on a 50 yard touchdown . Putting Polk up 20-8. Mountain Heritages offensive line was breaking down , Jackson young ran strong all night netting 39 yards on 5 carries But the cougars fumbled the ball deep on they're side of the field. Giving Philpott and the wolverines a short field. Philpott had 102 yards passing on the night 4/10 and a 7 yard touchdown run to put Polk up 26-8. Cougars unable to move the ball was forced to punt on the 30 yard line on there next series. But punter/QB Sam Howell fumbled the snap and run the ball to the 32 yard line of polk(Sam had 75 yards on 8 carries and 1-4 passing for 4 yards). Austin rice punched it in on the next play getting the score 26-14 that capped off all scoring(Rice had 79 yards rushing on 12 carries). The cougars did get the ball back deep inside they re own terrority after one of 3 goal line standing on the night. But backup was "sunshine" Justin Hoilman was unable to move the offense throwing and Int at the 16 yard line. Polk was unable to get in after leaving they're starters in. Polk had 389 total yards on the night compared to Heritage's 206. But the penalties is the story cougars had almost a 10 for 100 yards while Polk only had 5 for 35 yards.

Heritage at Hendersonville 27-0 loss

Mountain Heritage went to Hendersonville knowing they had some problems moving the ball after the North buncombe game! An intense week of practice helped the cougars focus on the bearcats. The first half the defense of the cougars kept the game scoreless.The cougars drove the length of the field when a half back pass was intercepted in the end zone.That lead to the first score at 49 seconds until the half when the bearcats Mahcallum Duckett caught a 13 yard td pass from Grant Rivers making the score 7-0 at half. The Cougars tried an onside kick in the second half that went right to a hendersonville defender at the 50. Bearcats made the cougars pay with Cam hill with a 23 yard td run making the score 13-0. After another cougars punt the bearcats scored on the next play with a td pass from Rivers to Cam hill for 70 yards. Cam hill had 123yards rushing on 20 carries and 2  tds. Bearcats Rollin at 20 to zip. Heritage was gassed in the 4th qb sam howell went 4-9 for 12 yards and 3 ints but rushed for 32 yards on 7 carries. Heritage star running back Austin Rice who had a stomach virus this week only rushed for 19 yards on 9 carries, Jackson Young lead all rushers with 40 yards rushing on 9 carries . He also caught the biggest pass of the night when Justin hoilman throw a bullet to young for 19 yards. That was short lived when Justin fumbled two plays later. The Bearcat scoring was capped off Grant rivers scoring at 2 yards out . making the final score 27-0 .Rivers was 6 out of 8 for 108 yards and rushed for 15yards.Hendersville rushed for 207 yards on 43 carries. Cougars rushed for 110 yards on 33 carries. Cougars Had 6 penalty's for 55 yards. While the the Bearcats had 4 penalties for 38 yards. Cougars have polk at home coming next week Cougars are now 2-2 o-1 in conference . MOUNTAIN HERITAGE AT NORTH BUNCOMBE

COUGARS WIN 14-13 OVER BLACKHAWKS

Mountain Heritage had a week off to prepare for the 0 and 2 North Buncombe Blackhawks . The games start was what was to come in this sloppy affair. Blackhawks kicked off to louis romero who fumbled the return at the 10 but was recovered. AUSTIN RICE starting blasting the cougars down the field, until qb SAM HOWELL lost the ball on a shot gun snap and North Buncombe recoved on the 32 of Heritage. Blackhawk rushed to the inside the 5 yard line before Dylan Shetley fumbled on the 2 yard line (check videos). QB Sam Howell rushed to the 15 HOWELL and RICE both got HERITAGE around the 25 ,then a personal foul by North Buncombe moved the ball to the 38 yard line. But the Cougars where forced to punt a few plays later. Blackhawk defender Dillion Shelby block the Sam Howell punt. But North Buncombe was unable to move the ball the cougars took back over on downs at they're 39. But another fumble by Sam Howell forced the the Cougars to punt again. North Buncombe returned the kick to the Mountain Heritage 20 yard line. North Buncombe drive was stopped at the 12 yard line when Howell drove blackhawk running back morrow back to the line of scrimmage on 3rd and 2 . North Buncombe's kicker Eddie Piccarillo hit the short field goal put the North Buncombe up 3-0. That seemed to wake up the cougars on the the next position  as rb JACKSON YOUNG had a huge 57 yard yard pickup. Cougars  went to the air around the 18 when SAM HOWELL tried to hit ELI BUCKNER in the corner was slightly over thrown(HOWELL went 2-7 for 10 yards but rushed for 77 yards on 11 carries.). Cougars  made it inside the 5 with rice HOWELL punched it in on the goal line on a 4th and a foot. Cougars went up 7-3 . The next drive North Buncombes qb went to the air driving the the Blackhawks back down the field. The drive stalled at the 20 but Piccarillo hit another field goal closing the score to 7-6 just before half. The second half started fast for the Blackhawks with a big run 45 yard run by running back COLBY FOX to the 10 yard line of Heritage. FOX punched it in from there making the score 7-13 Blackhawks. The Cougars responded by driving 83 yards with two forth down conversions then AUSTIN RICE scored from 15 yards out. Cougars go up 14-13 . North buncombe and Heritage punted on they're next position . North buncombe got the ball back with around 6 mins. left . Colby Fox and Dylan Shetley (who for rushed 12 times for 108 yards) had two big runs on the last drive for the blackhawks. Getting North Buncombe to the 18 yardline of Heritage. which is a chip shot for Picarrillo? But Austin Rice tipped  the 29 yard field goal ( SEE VIDEO) after hitting a 37 and 30 yarder earlier. Running Back AUSTIN RICE (austin finished with 118 yards on 20 carries)iced the game on a huge pickup all the way to the 20 of North Buncombe. Cougars run out the clock winning a sloppy  game 14-13. Cougars had 5 fumbles in the game lost one. Blackhawks had 4 fumbles lost one. Cougars had 9 Penalties  69 yards! COUGARS HAD 322 YARDS OF OFFENSE COMPARED TO 190 YARDS FOR THE BLACKHAWKS!
