LADY COUGARS beat reynolds by 21 54-33 Then 55-38 friday.

Lady cougars took on the Rockets Monday night an pulled away in the 2nd  period outscoring the rockets 18-4 just before the half. 3 Lady cougars scored double digits. Kaylon Johnson had 16 Pt's with 4 3's.  Sam Chandler 17 rebounds.10 Pt's .Cougars were 16-20 from the line.

Lady Cougars went to Acr Friday and had almost finished with the same score. Lady cougars Control glass again with 40 rebounds. Team had 6 blocks. Brianna woody 14 Pt's to lead all scorers (10 in first half )also grabbing 8 rebounds. Her 3 blocks kept Acr out of the paint also lead the team. Cougars took a 30-12 lead at the half.

Samm chandler also had 14 pt's 12 rebounds 3 steals. Cougars had 12 steals in the game .Cougars maintained they're lead as Reynold's outscored them by one in the 2nd half

Boys run way from rockets. Then get run off court friday 69-46

Mountain heritage played Reynolds rockets twice in one week with two entirely different outcomes .

Monday night the cougars took control in the third period and almost pitched a shutout , Rockets only scored 3 Pt's Cougars 31 rebounds  12 steals 6 blocks as a team going 62 % from the free throw line 16-26. will Buckner was 5-6 scoring 14 Pt's. Austin Taylor had 7 reb's. Cougars shot 20-27 in paint.

Friday night cougars went to Acr hoping for the same result but a hot shooting rockets team ambushed the cougars early . Rockets had 3 players in double digit's .

 Lead by brain Lloyd with 17. Cougars shot 13-33 from the floor 39% .1 -9 from 3 . 7 offensive rebounds. 26 turnovers may have been contributed to an over rowdy acr student section. Austin Taylor had 3 blocks on the night. Drew (Jackie Moon) Brown was 3-5 from the bench scoring 7pt's.

62-55 Mountain Heritage Varsity girls hold off Erwin

The Opening night of varsity ladys started out @Erwin . The night can be summed up in Two words KAYLON JOHNSON . The lady cougars  started out ice cold  (lucky so did erwin) But Kaylon hit four 3's in the first half giving her 14pts almost outscoring the Lady warriors by herself as the Lady cougars took a 32-17 into the half. 


Start of the 3rd was a different story as Erwin woke up from outside as Mariah Reid hit two 3's  finishing as the leading scorer for Erwin 16 Pt's. Erwin outscored the Cougars 20-5 in the 3rd period . 10th grader Destiny Elkins played inside like a senior late in the game scoring 12 Pt's 10 rebounds 3 steals an a block. lady cougars salted the game away going 21-26 from free throw line outscoring the warriors by 7 in the final frame. Kaylon Johnson was 10-11 from the line. finishing with 24pts 5 rebounds 3 steals. Top re bounder  for the cougars, College commit Brianna Woody with 11 she also had 3 blocks. LADY COUGARS PLAYED WITHOUT OUT ABBEY BAILEY AND ABBEY RENFRO . Due to injury.

COUGARS fall @ ERWIN 72-67

The Hank Newsome era finally got under way for Mountain heritage @Erwin Monday night cougars came out hot with the new up tempo offense. jumping out to an 14- 2 lead Tim Hensley had 14pts Hensleys  defense caused 4 turnovers and one charge. Game was fast through out with that slowly turned into Erwin's favor having while 3 cougars out with injuries.
 
 
Game changing moment when Newsome got his first tech. foul as Mountain Heritage head coach for being outside the coaches box. Hank was forced to sit on the bench the rest of the contest while Erwin coach Von Allen paced and was very vocal and walked on the court 3/4 of the night. Erwin's Jonathan Allen picked the pockets of cougar pt guards in the second q. letting the Warriors crawl back in the game 36-34 at the half . With an Ingle 3 Erwin took there first lead 39-38 in the 3rd  Josh ingle had 11. 6 foot 7 Austin Taylor had 17pts 7 rebounds put the cougars up one at 56-55 but went out with an injury with 5 mins left. Cougars fail behind after that, going small trying to catch up after an Malik Moore 3 . Erwin hit they're foul shots down the last 2 Min's. Cougars had 25 turnovers losing opener

Green and White game 2012

2nd annual Green and White Game.

All four team competed in the event


The JV girls and  boys played in 10 min scrimmage showing off the new faces for the teams. Jv girls returning after a rough season looked a little shaky but players like karen robinson and Madi Johnson looked very stable for the future. Allie Tabor looked to be the go to girl before the season starts with her attack style. 


The JV boys are defending conference and tourney champs. Coach Ken Mccurry lost all his starters. But  10th graders Gray Mccurry Jared sellers, Andrew hall "the Hebrew hammer" showed they can lead the team . Along with new additions Nick chandler and Brennan hockaday with others looked great in they're debut.




Varsity girls return with coach's Susie and Jackie Shelton bring a team back that are defending Western Highlands Conference and Tourney Titles. Lady's took a while to get in a groove but Brianna"big mamma  Woody, Sam Chandler played into a rhythm leading all scorers . Lacey Elkin's looked very solid is a returner on the varsity team as a Jr. 




Varsity Boys have first year coach Hank Newsome after leading West Caldwell to the 3 round of the state playoffs. Also Returning to the bench to basketball asst. Jared Pope. Cougars Have returning all conference mention player Austin Taylor and 2010 Max-preps player to watch Drew Hoilman. Boys come out with 14 players this year with a run and gun offense. Grant Buckner and Brandon Brown looked very fast in the guard positions  Jr Will Buckner will be getting big mins. with his 6'5 size. Tim Hensley brought back his scrappy defense from last season. Football players Zack Brown Jake McClellan Drew Brown played well but Lucas king who did not play with a foot injury suffered from football season.

Dunk contest was a war between Austin Taylor and Will Buckner .

 Will was barely edged after his no look dunk by Taylor's no look bounce off the back board slam.
