ALL WHC CONFERENCE Austin bob Taylor was the  only Mens player in the
from Western Highlands Conference to play in the annual Blue and white
all-star game .Taylor's Blue team took the lead early as the Taylor
had some Key blocks in the first half . Taylor starts the game and
finished 3 pts
. Taylor's blue team led by 2 at the half with a big
performance from chase's shad blanton who scored 19. White team pulled
ahead in the 2nd winning 80-86 behind MVP Logan Harding who scored 20.

started and helped her team out to a 9-2 lead.
Asheville's Niry Perez brought the white team back scoring 16 points
hitting 4 3's. White team had a double digit lead with 6mins to go
Blue team cut the score to 5 with 2 minutes left. But White all stars
hit all they're baskets down to the end beating  Blue All Stars
78-65. Mitchells Caitlin Blevins and Averys Kelsie clark scored 2pts. Chandler finished with 13pts.

Girls go to 3rd round 2 years in a row

Varsity girls set a record with 27 wins for the Varsity women's program at Mountain Heritage before falling in the 3rd round

1ST ROUND

Walk trough west Caldwell 69-54 . Samm Chandler was 8-12 from the floor with 19pts also led team with 4steals 3 blocks. Freeman ,Johnson and Renfro combined for 7 3's. Lady's took a 39-32 at the half. Cougars had 34 rebounds Destiney Elkins game high with 9 rebounds and second with 16pt's 2 blocks . Main reason for the win 19 assists as team and only 11 turnovers


2ND ROUND

Lady's went up early taking a 14 Point lead on North Henderson . But girls from Hendersonville came back in the 2nd going on a 8-0 run . Cougars 29-20 led at Halftime and never let go of the lead. Cougars went on to win 54-37.  Samm Chandler's 14pts put her in a special club. Scoring over  1,000 Pt's at Mountain heritage in her historic career. Destiny Elkins was the leading scorer with 15pts.

3RD ROUND

Lady took on a very good Pisgah bears team and jumped out to a 7-2 lead. But the lady Bears shot 55% from the floor and took the lead in the first and only gave it back once for under a minute for the entire game. Samm Chandler had 23pts doing all she could to advance the Lady cougars.

Cougars 52-53 Destiny Elkins was fouled going up for a shot rebounded by Abbey Bailey who passed to Samm Chandler who was Mugged under the Basket for no call and rebounded by Pisgah. Cougars forced to foul Bears hit they're foul shots 57-52. (I know a referee does not to want to decide the game under a minute to go but it really was ridiculous).

1st round
Boys Varsity team goes to second round to the state playoffs for the 2nd year in a row! Round one defeated Owen handily 66-38 . Cougars shot 24- 42 from the floor. Brandon Brown hit 3 three pointers. 

Cougars grabbed 30 rebounds .Will Buckner and Austin Taylor combined for 9 rebounds 27 Pt's. Cougars had 7 blocks Tim Hensley had 4 Tim also led team with 5 assists , team had 18 assists and only 10 turnovers. Cougars defeat the warhorse's easily for the 4th time this year.

2nd round

Boys traveled to the state 2a football champions EAST LINCOLN .Where they got to see the phenom Chazz Surratt . Surratt and the rest of the Mustangs shot the lights out the 1st period opening an 7-0 lead then a 19-5 lead. Cougars had 10 turnovers in the first half alone Cougars clawed they're way back in the game slowly when the Mustangs cooled off. Kaleb Mccurry came off the bench to hit off the glass 3 to settle the nerves of the rest of the team.

 Avery Austin( had 11pt's)  played the best he had in many games hitting several jumpers before the half pulling the Cougars to 5 at one point. Trailing the Mustangs 25-18 at the half. Both teams were cold in the start of the third but the Cougars where colder. Cougars could not take advantage of second chance points .Will Buckner did not hit his first bucket until until 5 Min's in the 3rd period. 

Taylor and Buckner only had a combined 6 Pt's. Taylor and Grant Buckner lead  team with 6 rebounds each. 15-48 shooting doomed the Cougars in the end.

Boy's finish as runner up in Western Highlands Tournament

Mountain Heritage boys first game had to come from behind to beat rival Mitchell  in the
 1st round

Round #2 vs Owen. Cougars were up double digits in 3rd, but survived on a Will Buckner Tip in as time expired.
81-79

Championship game #2 Cougars stayed basket for basket with #1 Hendersonville .Tim Hensley hit a layup to tie the game up with 1.7 seconds in the game.  But a deep inbounds throw to Shawn Rodgers then he sank a turn around jump shot to Break the Cougars Heart. 
52-50
 Cougars are 0-7 in they're most recent meetings with the Bearcats.

Boys win Blood Bath vs Madison 63-52

Cougars came out flat vs Avery county. But fast vs Madison going up 20-8 in the first period. Madison had no answer for Jr Will Buckner who had 17pts the Cougars took a 36-24 lead at halftime.  



Madison played very physical in the game filled with fouls and pushing and shoving.  In the 3rd Madison's Sam Cauthren got hot scoring 21pts cutting the lead to 5 as he hit 5 3's. But in the end Grant Buckner's 13 and combined with Tim Hensley's 10 was to much. Cougars outscore Madison by 4 in the final quarter. Winning 63-52

Girls Bounce back vs Madison win 70-59

After a disappointing performance vs Avery. Cougars came back strong vs Madison. Samm Chandler played like her old self scoring 26 points. Cougars never let the Patriots take the lead. Destiney Elkins and Nyssa Freeman both had 16pts as the Cougars
 lead at the half.

 Patriots Patriots fall 70-59 .Despite 18 Pt's from Tess Harris  and 14pts  from Baylea Loven. After the last regular season win. The cougars learned the Avery Vikings lost @ Mitchell in double overtime. Given the Lady Cougars a share of the Western Highlands Conference Title.
